Overview
On May 13 and 14, IranWire.com and Amnesty International will host Washington, D.C.-area screenings of Maziar Bahari’s new documentary film, To Light a Candle, which focuses on the persecution of the Baha’is in Iran and, in particular, the efforts of the Iranian Baha’i community to educate its youth, who are excluded from the nation’s university system, through the Baha’i Institute for Higher Education. The screenings will be held at 7pm at the Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema, located at 7235 Woodmont Avenue, Bethesda, MD. Each screening will be followed by a discussion with Maziar Bahari, the filmmaker, and Marjan Davoudi, who was featured in the film. The May 13 discussion will be moderated by Karim Sadjadpour of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The May 14 discussion will be moderated by Jacki Lyden of National Public Radio.
